All of our knives are heat treated in house using a precise kiln designed specifically for knife making, the proper quenchant for the steel, and Cryogenic hardening if applicable. This assures the knife will be durable with optimal edge retention.

My name is Michael Bradshaw, owner and Bladesmith at Shaw’s Shanks. I am a Marine Combat Veteran of 14 years. After traveling the world during my service, I returned to my birth place of Lynchburg, VA which is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I have always carried a blade. My love of fishing is what inspired my makers mark. My addiction to Bladesmithing began, like many others, from Forged in Fire in 2017. I became addicted to any and all knowledge bladesmithing related and tortured my family with countless hours of YouTube videos. After making a few not so great knives, my skills improved and Shaw’s Shanks was born.
